I don't normally post about new species. It's just not news to me the way it is for so many in the hobby. For instance, just in January of 2010, there were about 32 species of amphibian named as new, raised from subspecies, or re-validated. Most were new. There has been a steady stream of new geckos out of southeast Asia, mainly Cnemaspis, Cyrtodactylus, and Gekko, with an occasional Goniurosaurus in the mix. The trends seem unlikely to end soon.
I thought, however that Cnemaspis psychedelica was worth bringing to people's attentions. It's only known from one island in a bay, although other islands surveyed so far have also had unique geckos. No other images so far, but have a look: http://www.mapress.com/zootaxa/ ![]() Cnemaspis psychedelica (Reptilia) from L. LEE GRISMER et al.
